SUMMARY:NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Course
DESCRIPTION:This course is at least eight hours long and includes classroom and range time instruction. Students will learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling\, rifle parts and operation\, ammunition\, shooting fundamentals\, range rules\, shooting from the bench rest\, prone\, sitting\, standing\, and kneeling positions\, cleaning\, and continued opportunities for skill development. In addition to classroom instruction students will complete a live fire training exercise at a range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook and the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program book.  At the successful completion of the class\, students will receive an NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Course certificate. If you own a rifle\, please bring it with you along with eye protection\, ear protection\, and 100 rounds of ammunition. When you arrive\, please leave your ammunition in your car. DESCRIPTION:If you are interested getting your Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL)\, this is the class you need to take. The class is 8 hours long and includes both classroom and range time. The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation. This is an instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. Course topics include gun safety rules\, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols\, ammunition knowledge and selection\, pistol selection and storage\, shooting fundamentals\, pistol inspection and maintenance\, marksmanship\, shooting range safety\, and Maryland law regarding the use and possession of firearms. Students will be able to see and handle a large variety of different types of handguns during the class. \nIn addition to classroom instruction students will complete a live fire training exercise at a range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook and the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program book. At the successful completion of the class\, students will also receive an NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course certificate and be able to apply for your Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL). If you own a handgun\, please bring it with you to class along with eye protection\, ear protection\, and 150 rounds of ammunition. Please leave your ammunition in your car. Topics that will be taught include firearm safety\, handgun nomenclature\, selecting a handgun for self-defense\, ammunition knowledge and defensive ammunition\, basic defensive handgun skills\, drawing from concealment\, loading and stoppage remediation\, laws regarding the possession\, purchase\, and use of handguns\, and mindset. You will receive three books highlighting what you have learned in class. At the successful completion of the course\, students will also receive an NRA CCW Certificate and be able to apply for your Maryland Wear & Carry Permit. \nYou will need to bring the following items to class:  your firearm\, holster\, concealment garment (a jacket)\, mag pouch\, three magazines\, eye protection\, ear protection\, and 200 rounds of ammo.
